FORT MADISON — The Fort Madison Area Arts Association will hold its first artistic expression auction since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2019.
The annual fundraiser is May 13, starting at 6:30 p.m. at McAleer Hall 415 11th Street in Fort Madison, with wine and beer tasting and appetizers courtesy of The Grange in Mt. Pleasant. Attendees will also have time to browse available items and initiate silent auctions.
The pandemic has caused this critical fundraising event to be canceled for the past two years and the association is counting on a successful event this year, said FMAAA Director Lori Illner Greene.
Thanks to the continued support of the community, the FMAAA Art Center is able to exhibit a wide variety of artwork each month in the main gallery, from aspiring artists to high school youth, local talent and works by artists from outside the region.
Additional programs such as gallery talks, performance nights, and precocious children’s programs are integrated into the exhibits to provide a more comprehensive experience. Additionally, the Art Center offers a variety of classes each month and has a walk-in glazing studio for you to create your own custom ceramics at your own pace. A new studio space is also being developed where the center can offer additional programs and classes for the community to engage with.
FMAAA hosts the Annual Garden Tour in June, offers Kids Art Camp in July, and hosts Art in Central Park in September. If you haven’t stopped by lately, the center is located at 825 Avenue G and has an extensive members gallery with finely crafted artwork and objects for that perfect gift.
FMAAA’s Expressive Art Auction is the group’s premier annual event with over 50 items available. Beautiful works of art donated by members. Fine jewelry and tickets to a memorable trip, vacation or experience will be auctioned off in the Silent and Live Auctions.
Tickets are available at the Art Center for $40 each and reservations for VIP tables at $400 each which includes two bottles of wine. Call 319-372-3996 for more information or to make a reservation. Walk-ins are welcome.
