Maine Media, Camden’s National Partner for Online Art Lecture Series – Knox County VillageSoup

ROCKPORT – Supported by financial support from Camden National Bank, Maine Media Workshops + College is offering its weekly alumni lecture series online from now through May 2022, covering topics related to photography, filmmaking , to the art and design of the book and to the writing.

Speakers for the series are chosen from faculty at Maine Media, as well as experts in the fields of media arts and art history making appearances.

Maine Media’s faculty includes master fine art photographers, photojournalists, cinematographers, directors, editors, screenwriters and sound engineers who won Oscar and Emmy awards, as well as art professors from the book, design and writing.

“The Alumni Lecture Series allows everyone in Maine and beyond to have access to talented artists and film industry professionals from regions like Los Angeles and New York,” said Michael Mansfield, president of Maine Media Workshops + College.

The second talk in the series, to be held at 5 p.m. on January 13, will feature Los Angeles-based concept photographer Aline Smithson best known for her portraits that use humor and pathos. The conversation is moderated by Cig Harvey, an international artist based in Midcoast Maine.

Smithson will talk about his new book, “Fugue State,” which reflects on the permanence of photographs and how digital and analog images can be destroyed over time.
