Mott Community College: MCC Gallery of Fine Arts welcomes Christine Waters

The Mott Community College Gallery of Fine Arts will present an exhibition of paintings by Christine Waters from September 27 to October 12. In addition, Waters will be giving an art talk at 10 a.m. on September 30. These lectures will be available on the MCC Gallery of Fine Arts page ( and made possible in part by the Ballenger Trust.

These large-scale works, 48 ​​”x 30″, are all portraits of horses done in a style loosely influenced by the works of Kehinde Wiley. Regarding the connection between his own recent work and that of Wiley, Waters said, “I do portraits of horses. horses that belong to me and my friends. My idea, inspired by Mr. Wiley, was to paint these horses with backgrounds that are patterns that make sense with each horse. “

Waters is the former Vice-President and Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Acting Chair of the Art and Art History Program, University of Michigan-Flint. His academic credentials include a master’s degree in fine arts-painting, University of Wisconsin-Madison; Master of Art-Painting, University of Wisconsin-Madison; Bachelor of Science-Art, University of Wisconsin-Madison. In addition, she has participated in many workshops / institutes, university services, committee work and related activities.
